This session is a two-in-one session.

9:30 - 9:50 AM: The Power to Change : Identifying the Actual Barriers (Steve Smith)
A fundamental shift to improving instruction has been changing the language of teachers when talking about barriers from student-centered to environment centered.

9:50 - 10:10 AM: UDL: The Language of Learner Variability (Neil Albero)
As a field we are passionate about meeting the needs of all learners.  We see education as a human right and a vehicle to creating a just future.  Does our language regarding meeting the needs of all learners and their abilities to meet the challenges of 21st century learning cause barriers to this vision?  This session will provide an entry point for educators to use the language of UDL respecting the variability of all learners and finding barriers that exist in the curriculum, not the learner.

10:10 - 10:20 AM: Time for questions and discussion
