My name is Setal Ghodiwala and I am a fifth year, Special Education Teacher in Paterson NJ, teaching a Language Learning Disabilities self-contained class. I currently teach third grade and all the subjects.

I started implementing UDL in my classroom about 3 years ago in my spelling center. The idea was to get my students more engaged and take ownership in their learning. Being that each student learns differently, I found this framework to be more interactive and gave students the autonomy to choose which activity fits them best. The choices I give vary on a range of levels of difficulty and are geared to their different learning styles.

I’m also part of an UDL Professional Learning Community within my school creating a library of resources for teachers and staff members to use. I hope to be able to share my resources and teach others the various aspects of this framework.
